It’s Valentine’s day. I love my mom’s heart shaped cookies.
I was at Stubbe earlier today buying chocolate hearts when at the cash, I dropped one on the floor and it cracked in half. It struck me as a bad omen, but the kind clerk, held out his hand for my broken chocolate heart and told me to get a new one. If only we could always have such a warm spirited approach to mending broken hearts!
There’s a stop sign in Parkdale with a spray-painted heart and 1-way indicator that seems so cheeky, it brings me a smile.
In Rilke’s short phrase, “love what you don’t understand”, I feel so much openness. I think it is a grand expression to share with ourselves and the world around us.
I live with the word everyday as it is my namesake.
love, love, LOVE!
