about blue: create a set of natural indigo dyed napkins + cyanotype gift cards

Blue has historically been the most popular colour in the world. Whether this is because it’s so prevalent in the sky and water around us or because it’s a difficult colour to produce, blue’s allure remains strong. This is particularly true for indigo with its myriad shades and patterning possibilities.

The blue from the cyanotype

During this morning workshop we’ll learn a bit about the history of indigo, its botanical source to the pursuit of blue in the lab.

We’ll and how to prepare a natural indigo dye vat and the solar reactive process of cyanotype.

With hands on techniques, we’ll create our own set of four indigo dyed napkins and a set of cyanotype gift cards.
