SUMMARY:branches of forgotten knowing\, exhibition in Rzeszów\, Poland
DESCRIPTION:branches of forgotten knowing \n\n\n\nThe exhibition branches of forgotten knowing is primarily based on Tania Love’s experience of the Sala752 art residency in Zaczernie back in 2023. Two years on from her stay in Poland\, exploring the Podkarpacie area and its culture\, this 2025 exhibition showcases some of the works led by her local discoveries\, such as her development of natural inks and pigments gleaned from the surrounding area and pieces inspired by traditional embroidery and crochet patterns. The series of works\, titled ‘Grand Mother’\, evolved during the artist’s stay in Zaczernie\, in a landscape inhabited for centuries by Tania’s ancestors and where her family DNA continues. But the exhibition brings much more context of Tania’s heritage\, prior and post the residency. For example\, the cherry tree imagery and symbolism. Based on Tania’s Polish grandmother’s garden in Morawsko in Poland\, and continued in her Ontario based garden\, both green spaces filled with cherry trees\, continually inform and inspire Tania’s work. The closeness and the distance between the two countries and their cultures are both playful and nostalgic. The mirror image of the cherry tree branches flipped as roots in the cyanotype installation\, symbolise a stable heritage\, but also the persistent changes in life. Tania’s art practice questions how humans impact\, shape\, draw from\, and communicate with our environments. It calls upon the viewer to consider their role within the world\, and how we are all connected. It invites us into a gentle\, integrated and reciprocal relationship with the earth.

SUMMARY:patterns of belonging
DESCRIPTION:The collection patterns of belonging presents works inspired by close observation of ever-changing patterns in the sand along the shoreline of Lake Ontario and imagines the hidden rivers running through the city and through living beings. \n\n\n\nThese delicate hand cut paper pieces\, like patterns seen in all of life\, call to mind\, water bubbles\, salt stains on the pavement and microscopic images of body tissue.  \n\n\n\nTranslucent papers painted with inks and cut in lacy layered forms offer a gentle and visceral sense experience.  Their expression reflects on permeability and impermeability\, volume and transparency\, fragility and resilience\, presence and absence.Patterns of belonging will be presented within the Glass Gallery space at the Richmond Hill Central Library from November 11 – February 2. In conjunction with DesignTO Festival January 24 – February 2.Hours:Monday to Thursday:  9:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.Friday:  9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Saturday:  10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
